I'm back!

This time, I'm working on a painting that has a kind of theme. I've always wanted to paint something magically beautiful and mainly focusing on subjects that interests me. I need more practice with painting people. I've realized that I have to start forcing myself to sketch noses and lips to practice the shading method required for the features to look realistic. Anyhow, I'm very proud of my improvements. Here's the piece that I'm working on.

reference photos for my art project.

Hi Everyone! So I created this look for my art reference. I used Falsies for this look. It was my first time trying them, so I had a hard time putting them on. Felt weird actually, but I got used to it throughout the day. I used Maybelline Volume Express and also the Stay Matt foundation with a sttippling brush. For the lips, I used a Nars lipstick and patted it softly on the lips. It was kind of this burgundy dark red. For blush I used a light pink and softly patted it on the apples of my cheeks, then went for a soft brown eyeshadow under the eye. If I can find the brand and color, I will update this post later. I really liked this look, I might do this more often. :)
The stay matt foundation actually turned out looking great after a few hours on. I'm very surprised with how it looks. I will be using it in my regular makeup routine now. So pretty and it basically covers all of my imprefections.

So today has been all about the garden and barbecue! Last night I was working on my story on my etsy shop. I'm not going to give up on it. I refuse to. I know that someone out there might love my paintings just as much as I do. I refuse to fail.
On another note, I'm working on some new portraits for my flower crown series. Here are some of the flowers that I'm using for inspiration in my garden.

Well helloooooooooo fellow Artists and Art lovers! It;s been so long since I've posted something in this blog. I need to keep up with this regularly. How do you guys do this ???? I bought a Filofax planner to keep me in check with the blog, youtube, and my shop(s). Yes plural, because I also launched a new shop selling planner accessories. YES! That happened. I am totally obsessed with planner goodies.
Recently, I've had a lot of time to paint! So here's an update on my work:

So, recently I kind of got into the Midori craze. Been looking for a good sketchbook and thought using a Midori was the best idea because you can change the notebooks regularly and just use the cover over and over again with different inserts. Plus it fits great in my purse. I'm going to try to sketch something regularly in this Notebook. I made watercolor notebooks and mixed media inserts for this. Can't wait to start :)

Heyyy! It's been awhile that I've actually focused on the whole art blog thing. I've been painting a lot recently, jumping from one to another. I lost my job a few days ago. Well, I didn't 'lose' my job, I was layed off because the store closed. That's just greaaaaatttt, right? Note the sarcasm. But this is a good thing. It gives me a chance to focus on my work and technique. Also, I was slacking off in school and now I have all the time in the world to study. I'll be posting some abstract art I've been working on recently.
On Saturday, it was my 25th birthday. I celebrated with my boyfriend and a few close friends and family. I always thought that my big 25 was going to be celebrated in some huge way. But no. I just painted in the morning and I couldn't have been happier. My mother gave me a laminating machine for my birthday. Awesome, right? At least I think so. I've been getting into the art journaling and planner craze. My boyfriend got me a pikachu plush toy and some beautiful yellow daffodils. I'm pretty grateful that he's the kind of guy that would buy me flowers just because it's Tuesday :)

To be honest, I've been going through some kind of a rut with painting. I need some originality. I kind of want more realism and more definition in my portraits. My arm isn't working I guess xD. I need to look harder and plan ahead the colors of the shadows. Maybe even another angle of the face. That would be a nice change =]
Been thinking about trying youtube.

I remember when I was a little kid, my mom used to take me to church every Sunday. Technically I shouldn't have been drawing people while the Pastor spoke, but it kept me from running around the church with the other kids. I think that's when it started. When I started to care about Art. I used to draw all the time and then when I started high school, I went through some rough things and stopped. It's like my inspiration just wasn't there anymore. A block ( kind of ).
When College started, I noticed some girls with blank canvases headed into a Painting Class. Clearly it was Painting 2 because they were quite advanced. I had never painted, but I was always interested in trying it, so I did. At first, I was at the bottom of the class, then things slowly got better, and I learned to love it. ( even if some painting assignments gave me headache. especially when it has to do with painting quilts, sheets, and silk. )That's where I am now, but I need to find my style. Something unique that makes me stand out....
I guess I'll practice, practice, PRACTICE!
The name of he girl I drew is Sandra, she's one of my best friends. ;)

Well helloooo fellow bloggers!!! So here’s my first post!
This painting took me about an entire week to finish. I consider it to be a
self portrait. I call it, ‘Beautiful Mess’. My art teacher said it was actually
fitting. I used oil paint in thick brush strokes. I first attempted to make
this painting more of a realistic, but it did not come out that way at all.
Overall, I love the finished result.
I was actually having a hard time with this at one point. There's nothing harder than having to paint yourself because honestly, we all have some type of issue when we look at ourselves in the mirror for too long. At least, I'm speaking for myself.
